If you’ve known us here at North River Outfitting for a long time, you know that our whitetail hunting in Alberta has long been our specialty. This is where Ron first started his outfitting business and where he first made his name in the industry.

Now more than 30 years later, we are still as excited as ever about these hunts for big, trophy deer. Alberta is known for its big bucks anyway. And after decades of careful management, this area is producing some outstanding deer. For the whitetail hunter looking for that incredible opportunity at a monster Alberta buck, this a special experience.

Our Alberta hunts are run from our main lodge where comfortable accommodations and great meals are standard. We know that accommodations aren’t everything on a hunt, but we believe that it adds to the entire experience. Our hunters typically hunt out of elevated blinds, equipped with heaters to take the chill off of our late season hunts. In addition to deer, our guests often have the opportunity to see wolves, bear, elk and other wildlife. From start to finish, it’s a wonderful experience and it’s easy to see why after three decades, this is still our most popular hunt.

Because of good management, this area maintains excellent age structures for mature whitetail deer. Our hunters can expect to see deer over the 150 mark and each year, between 10 and 30 percent of our deer go over 170, depending on the conditions. These northern whitetails are impressive animals and for us, chasing them never gets old.
