July 14, 2018While we are preparing our lodge and remote camps for the upcoming season, one thing we never take for granted is scouting for game. We take turns with our guides between helping prepare around the lodge and camp sites and getting them out to remote locations to scout for stone sheep, mountain goats, moose and caribou. This is big country and it takes a lot of man hours glassing and hiking to even barely scratch the surface on the animals that live here.
That is one aspect on this type of hunt you can truly look forward too with us. As much scouting as we do throughout the summer months and fall, new animals we have never laid eyes on before appear on hunts all fall. The next world class animal could step out on your hunt of a lifetime!
On the note of pre-season scouting, pre-season conditioning is something we can’t stress enough… While we do our best to cater to all types of hunters, the more physically fit you are the more enjoyable your hunt will be. Whether you have a treadmill at home or a local gym nearby, start by doing 30 minutes of walking daily. If you’re feeling more ambitious, strap your pack on your back with 25-50 lbs of weight and hit the stair stepper or local mountain. Or simply go for a stroll on your treadmill. Anything is better than nothing.
