Backcountry Hunting Food Thoughts and Prep
January 25, 2018Backcountry Hunting Pre-Hunt Exercise
January 31, 2018Gear is one of the most important things for your hunt. Make sure that you purchase gear that can hold out in our Canadian wilderness. We have had hunters purchase gear that they thought would work but failed the test in the field. One of the most common failed gear is rain gear. It is expensive to purchase but it will be worth its weight in gold. Picture yourself to be glassing or hiking in the rain and your rain gear is leaking. Like most good gear it will last longer if you take care of it. If you have gear already make sure you have waterproof, and doubled checked it at home. This is even true with your backpack. Pre-pack your bag and go out for a hike to see if you have purchased a pack that fits your body shape. If it does fit you check it off the list, but if you experience any uncomfortable spots adjust your backpack or exchange it for one that works. In the field we have had hunters backpacks break and creating sore spots on them. You might think cheating out on your pack is okay but it is not a good idea. This is even true with your boots. Remember that you just spent a healthy amount of money on your trip and air fare so make sure that you purchase gear that is also going to meet the conditions of your hunt.
