July 20, 2020As hunters we are our own conservationists. While these days in modern time, it feels like we are fighting an uphill battle day-to-day to keep our rights to enjoy God’s country and all he has provided for us to experience and survive. Our ancestors survived by walking the very lands we hunt today, except with far less technical equipment than we have now… They relied on the environment to provide food and nutrition to make day-to-day life possible. This was done by harvesting animals, plant life and other resources natural to the landscape.
While there are areas that have been hunted and in some cases over hunted, this is why it is our responsibility to manage the wildlife herds today and provide a sustainable resource for many generations to come. There are numerous organizations dedicated to this very thing and they are doing everything within their power to make sure we as hunters and conservationists have the privilege to continue something we love so much, tomorrow. DSC, Wild Sheep Foundation, RMEF, Mule Deer Foundation, Rocky Mountain Goat Alliance and many more. All of these are dedicated to helping protect wildlife, wildlife habitat and make sure herds are thriving and healthy.
As a hunter take a few minutes and think about what you can do to help your local wildlife in your state. We aren’t saying run out and try and save the world, but what can be done to help ensure a better tomorrow? Join one of the above foundations or organizations and put your foot forward to ensuring there is a tomorrow. We are being torn apart by anti-hunters and it will always be an uphill battle fighting such a large movement. But there is something we can do to ensure our wildlife is still there and in abundance. Maybe if we can prove to them herds are healthy and numbers are on the rise we are doing our job to manage wildlife as much as use it to sustain our existence and provide for our families.
Just some food for thought. We as hunters owe it to the wildlife and we need to come together as one. Whether you’re an archery hunter, muzzleloader or rifle hunter. At the end of the day we are all ONE.
