Rifle Recommendations for a Whitetail Hunt
March 9, 2016There’s Still Time to Book Your 2016 Hunt
March 23, 2016If you know us or have followed us for long, you know how much we love hunting in British Columbia. It’s not that we’re biased. Well, maybe a little. But it’s a lot more than that. After outfitting in Alberta for more than 30 years, there are some very specific reasons why we chose the particular area we did when we decided to expand our operation.
The northern edge of B.C. offers hunting like nowhere else on earth. There are a number of things that set it apart. But here are the top three reasons why we love it and why you will too:
1. It’s Remote
To say that this area is remote is an understatement. There’s not a road for more than 100 miles in any direction. We fly into lakes that may have never seen another aircraft. This area, nestled at the very northern edge of British Columbia and along the Yukon border, is as remote as it gets.
Being this remote offers some distinct advantages. Most importantly, we see no outside hunting pressure. The wildlife here is not impacted by hunting. In fact, biologists say this is one of the few places where wildlife populations are totally self-sustaining and in no way managed by hunting. Hunting pressure simply isn’t an issue. Not many other locations can make that claim.
2. The Amount of Game Available
The second thing we love about hunting in B.C. is the sheer amount of game available to hunt. Both in terms of the variety of species, and the number of animals in the herds, the volume of wildlife here is incredible.
This makes for exciting, fast-paced hunts. Our hunters see a lot of game and there are rarely any long periods of slow hunting. This makes it possible to do two or even three species combo hunts in just a 10-day hunt. There are not many places on earth where you can take a caribou, a moose and a mountain goat or sheep in just 10 days.
3. The Quality of Game Available
The third reason we love hunting this remote part of British Columbia is the quality of game that’s available to our hunters. In addition to numbers, the remote nature of this area means that we take outstanding trophies.
On our combo hunts, we don’t specialize in just one species of trophy big game. We don’t hunt moose with a few caribou or goat hunts thrown into the mix. When you hunt here, you have a legitimate shot at a Boone & Crockett class animal of all five species. That alone makes this area very unique. And that’s one of the primary reasons we jumped at the opportunity to operate here when it became available.
